Duel Jewel is an indies rock band based in Tokyo, Japan.
DuelJewel was formed in January 1997 by Shun and Val. Hayato joined the group in May of the same year.
Over the next months there were many changes in the band, with some new members joining and leaving the band, and at times the activities of the band were suspended.
In July 1998 Hayato left, and the band was inactive for about a year.
For approximately the next two years there were many changes in the band again, with some new members joining and leaving the band.
In May 1999 Hayato rejoined the band. Over the next year they released several demo tapes. In October 2000 Yuya, who had previously been a support guitarist, became an official member of the band. Two months later they performed their first one-man live at Kagurazaka DIM.
Their first official album Lapidary was released in August of 2001. Natsuki joined the band as a supporting member in January 2002, and three months later he became an official member. In June 2002, DuelJewel performed their first show in the U.S. at A-Kon in Texas. Since that time, they have performed many live shows, including several performances in the U.S. They have also had several releases, including singles, the mini album Noah, and they have appeared on several omnibus CDs.
In recent months, they left M-Farm and are now with Zero Range entertainment. |

February
It was recently announced that the "mystery" member of DuelJewel who will be making appearances in the U.S. with Hayato will be Val. JhouseRock, who is sponsoring these events, has held auctions for passes to have dinner with Hayato and Val, and they have made a few changes concerning this. Now, instead of having dinner with one of the band members, the winners of the auctions will have dinner with both members. They are also holding a second chance auction for the dinner passes for the Megacon event that were not sold previously.
For more information, visit the JhouseRock website.
Two members of DuelJewel will make appearances in the U.S. this month. On February 16th, Hayato and another member will do a photo & autograph session at Katsucon, and they will also have a premier of a special concert video which was shot at one of their recent sold out performances in Japan. On February 17th & 18th, they will make appearances at Megacon, where they will also do a photo & autograph session and appear at the showing of their concert video.
